The New Lawn Stadium

The New Lawn Stadium is situated on a hill in the pretty little town of Nailsworth. A ground and club with a real family feel to it and a decent team on the field too. This was my first visit to this venue, and it is a unique place. It has friendly staff and helpful stewards. It is very clean everywhere. A great family-friendly stadium with only vegan food. My family and I were camping just three minutes down the road at a thistledown farm. We had been coming to Nailsworth for two years and had been passing the New Lawn continuously. Then I and my dad decided to book tickets to see FGR play. We bought tickets three hours in advance at the stadium. The staff made it easy to book. sat down as soon as the whistle blew. It was an exciting game, with local fans who go to every game. We ordered chips because they only have corn burgers. There is no parking in the school because there are only about ten spaces in the stadium car park. I booked the VIP dining package, which included a match ticket (seated with a good view), match program, car park, drink on arrival, buffet lunch before the match, plus tea/coffee and cake at halftime.

Friendly club the vegan food was very good and tasty. The service was also very good. Sadly, Forest Green Rovers didn't manage to win on the day... despite playing well. But watch out next time. Nailsworth is not the sort of place you expect to find a league ground in, and it is a seriously uphill one-mile hike to get to the stadium amidst modern housing estates and it is difficult to get away from as it is only served by a minor road. At least they are trying to establish their own identity and using the eco-friendly approach may well succeed in attracting interest from a younger element. A lot has been said about their vegan-only food stance. It beats the burger van syndrome, but I am not convinced that if I owned a football club, I would make everyone eat curry! But the friendly club and their on-site bar are welcoming, and their nice vegan-friendly drinks are on tap. The field serves as the first organic football pitch in the world, and solar panels on the building's top and outside will eventually generate enough electricity to power 25% of the stadium. Additionally, the stadium's pitch gathers rainwater for recycling, and all used cooking oil at the club is converted into biofuel.
